Ingredients

  • 1 can Pillsbury pizza crust
  • 1/4 cup Primo pizza sauce
  • 200 g Pepperoni sliced
  • 1 cup Mozzarella shredded cheese

Instructions

  • Open the pizza dough and press it into the bottom of the Dutch oven.
  • Spread pizza sauce on the dough.
  • Sprinkle generous amounts of mozzarella cheese over the dough.
  • Top with pepperoni slices and cover with the Dutch oven lid.
  • Cook over a low fire for 30-40 minutes or until the dough is baked and the cheese is melty.

Notes

  • Spray the interior of the oven with non-stick spray or line with parchment paper to help prevent sticking. A well seasoned cast iron oven will not need this.
  • Rotate the Dutch oven often and move from open flame. Alternatively this can be baked in a trailer oven or over a BBQ grill.
  • When cooking with cast iron, be sure to season the surface first.
  • Always use gloves or oven mitts while cooking, as the surface of the iron will be hot.
  • Cook the recipe over an open fire using hot coals, not open flames. A fire that is too hot will burn the outside of your recipe and not cook the inside.
  • Be sure to clean the cast iron with a rough vegetable scrubber, rinse, and dry thoroughly before storing.
