Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef cooked and prepared at home
  • 2 bell peppers diced
  • 1/2 white onion diced
  • 1 large bag nacho chips
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa

Instructions

  • Prepare the ground beef at home and cook with 1-2 tsp of taco seasoning. Allow the beef to cool before placing it into a large freezer bag for easy storage and packing.
  • Layer nacho chips, beef, peppers, onion, and cheese in a cast iron skillet.
  • Repeat layers if desired and cover skillet with foil.
  • Cook over the campfire or grill for 15-20 minutes or until all of the cheese has melted.

Notes

  • When cooking with cast iron, be sure to season the surface first.
  • Always use gloves or oven mitts while cooking, as the surface of the iron will be hot.
  • Cook the recipe over an open fire using hot coals, not open flames. A fire that is too hot will burn the outside of your recipe and not cook the inside.
  • Be sure to clean the cast iron with a rough vegetable scrubber, rinse, and dry thoroughly before storing.
