Total Time 30 minutes mins
- 1 pound ground beef cooked and prepared at home
- 2 bell peppers diced
- 1/2 white onion diced
- 1 large bag nacho chips
- 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
- Sour cream
- Salsa
Prepare the ground beef at home and cook with 1-2 tsp of taco seasoning. Allow the beef to cool before placing it into a large freezer bag for easy storage and packing.
Layer nacho chips, beef, peppers, onion, and cheese in a cast iron skillet.
Repeat layers if desired and cover skillet with foil.
Cook over the campfire or grill for 15-20 minutes or until all of the cheese has melted.
- When cooking with cast iron, be sure to season the surface first.
- Always use gloves or oven mitts while cooking, as the surface of the iron will be hot.
- Cook the recipe over an open fire using hot coals, not open flames. A fire that is too hot will burn the outside of your recipe and not cook the inside.
- Be sure to clean the cast iron with a rough vegetable scrubber, rinse, and dry thoroughly before storing.
