Camp Stove Fish Fry Recipe

We recently came home from an awesome trip to the Bowron Lake canoe circuit. The fishing on Isaac lake was amazing! We caught lake trout, rainbow and kokanee.

Knowing that we would likely catch fish on our trip, we packed our favorite ingredients for fried fish. We had about 5lbs of fish for two nights in a row before running out of butter and seasoning. Next time we will pack more!

Ingredients:

  • fresh fish
  • butter
  • mango chipotle seasoning

Directions:

  1. Prepare the fish. Clean, fillet, skin and de-bone the fish.
  2. Heat a skillet over the camp stove, drop in about 1 Tbsp butter and allow to melt.
  3. Sprinkle both sides of the fish with seasoning and place in the skillet.
  4. Cook on each side for five minutes each until the fish is cooked through.

We use this Outbound Cook Stove for all of our grilling when in the back country. It’s light weight and easy to use!

One canister of propane lasted us six days of meals, boiling water and cooking dinner. I packed instant noodles and instant mashed potatoes to pair with our fried fish.
