How to Make Foil Packet French Toast
Ingredients
- French bread, cubed – Thick, sturdy bread that soaks up all the custardy goodness without turning to mush.
- Eggs – The backbone of French toast, creating that rich, fluffy texture we love.
- Vanilla extract – Adds a warm, cozy sweetness.
- Milk – Helps create a creamy custard that keeps the French toast soft and tender inside.
- Cinnamon – Brings classic French toast flavor and makes your campsite smell absolutely amazing.
- Syrup – Because French toast without syrup is just… toast.
- Powdered sugar (for topping) – A light, sweet finishing touch that makes everything feel extra fancy.
- Strawberries, sliced (for topping) – Fresh, juicy berries that add a pop of color and balance out the sweetness.

Tips for Making Traditional Foil Packets
- Cut two pieces of aluminum foil to about 12″. Layer them one on top of the other. Place recipe ingredients in the center. Bring up the longer edges of the foil and fold together. Grasp one end and roll it up, then repeat with the other end.
- Alternatively, foil pie plates may be used to cook foil packet meals. Simply place the recipe ingredients into the pie plate and cover with aluminum foil before cooking.
- For best results, cook the foil packet on a grill over the open fire.
- Use caution when handling the foil packet, as it can become hot while cooking.
