Our Skillet Pizza Recipe
We used a 6″ skillet for individual-sized pizzas, but you could use a 10″ skillet for a larger pizza to feed a crowd.

Ingredients
- Non-stick spray or olive oil – Helps prevent the crust from sticking.
- Pillsbury pizza crust – Store-bought dough makes campfire pizza ridiculously easy and saves you from kneading dough at a picnic table.
- Primo pizza sauce – A flavorful, ready-to-use sauce that brings classic pizza vibes straight to the campsite.
- Pepperoni – Salty, savory, and always the first topping we reach for.
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded – Melts into gooey perfection.

Instructions
1. Open the pizza dough and press half of it into the bottom of the skillet. Reserve the other half for making a second pizza.
Tip: Spray the skillet with non-stick spray or coat in olive oil to prevent sticking. A well seasoned cast iron skillet will not need this.
2. Spread pizza sauce on the dough.

3. Sprinkle generous amounts of mozzarella cheese over the dough.

4. Top with pepperoni slices and cover with foil (optional).

5. Cook over a low fire for 20-30 minutes or until the dough is baked and the cheese is melty.
Tip: Rotate the skillet often and move from open flame. Alternatively, this can be baked in a trailer oven or over a BBQ grill.

The most important thing to remember when cooking over a campfire is to cook “low and slow”. It’s better to take your time than burn the bottom of your recipe.

Camping Essentials for Skillet Recipes
- I love using this Lodge Cast Iron Skillet for all of my sauteing.
- These silicone tongs are perfect for flipping and grasping hot food.
- This 9QT Overmont Dutch Oven is my favorite for one pot-style meals over the fire.
- These long handled wooden utensils make stirring easy and they don’t melt or get too hot!
- This cast iron scrubber set is perfect for safely cleaning your cast iron.

Tips For Cooking With Cast Iron
- When cooking with cast iron, be sure to season the surface first.
- Always use gloves or oven mitts while cooking, as the surface of the iron will be hot.
- Cook the recipe over an open fire using hot coals, not open flames. A fire that is too hot will burn the outside of your recipe and not cook the inside.
- Be sure to clean the cast iron with a rough vegetable scrubber, rinse, and dry thoroughly before storing.

To enjoy, simply cut the pizza into slices and share. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and you have a delicious camping meal for the whole family!
