Lakeside Resort Campground Review

Lakeside Resort Campground Review

Today I am sharing our Lakeside Resort Campground Review.  Be sure to check out more of our Camping Reviews for details on other campgrounds and products!

We went back to the Lakeside Resort during the May long weekend last month.  We camp with about a dozen other families and it is an absolute blast!  The resort is located in Oliver {in southern British Columbia} on Tuc-el-Nuit Lake.  It is a small lake that is beautiful, clean and warm at this time of year.

We purchased a 24ft trailer this year and felt somewhat spoiled {glamping much?!}  Our campsite was perfect, just a few sites from the lake and backing onto the park.  The sites at this resort do not offer any sort of barrier or privacy from your neighbor and trailers are basically side by side.  But being that we were camping with a whole group of friends it wasn’t a big deal on this trip.  The park is still separated from the campsite by a barbed wire fence which is a thumbs down for me.

The older kids organized a sand castle building contest this year.  They put up posters throughout the campground inviting teams of four to participate.

It was all kinds of awesome!

The boys spent most of their time biking around the grounds with the rest of the kids.
I also kicked off our camping season with a LIVE interview on CBC Radio South while we were camping.  It was super fun!  I sat looking out over this gorgeous lake and scenery and chatted about some of our favorite camping recipes and how we prepare food for our trips.  Talking about our love of camping WHILE camping?!?  Epic!

How cute are the boys in their I Heart Camping T-shirts btw?!?

Here’s what we liked about this campground:

flat, grassy sites {some right beside the lake}
clean, private beach with campfires
flush toilets and coin operated showers
lots of different accommodations {motel, cabanas, rvs and tents}
this may be a contender for our next family reunion

What we didn’t like:

There is a park and playground next to the campsite but children needed to crawl through a barbed wire fence to get to it.

There was a loud, rowdy, disruptive wedding on site.  When campground staff were asked if weddings were typically held there, they said that it was something that they were pursuing.
So I would make sure that no weddings were booked on the same weekend before camping here again.

On our last visit to this campground Isaiah was bit by an aggressive dog.  The owners had received multiple warnings but the situation escalated.  We have not been back to this campground since.

The scenery is breathtaking and the little lake is really warm.
Yes, I was swimming in May!

We had an amazing time and would recommend this campground for large gathering of family and friends but not for solo camping.
