What are s’mores?!
Smores are a popular camping treat and dessert consisting of roasted marshmallows, chocolate and cookies.
The term “s’more” comes from a combination of the words “some more” which is what you are sure to say after taste testing a few of these delicious recipes.
You simply MUST try this smores recipe on your next camping trip. It’s a sure fire way to cook smores without getting a burnt marshmallow.
Tips for cooking with a pie iron:
- When cooking with a pie iron, begin by applying non stick cooking spray or oil to the inside of both iron plates. This step is important so that your delicious meal doesn’t stick to the iron and burn.
- Place your recipe ingredients into the iron before closing and latching it.
- Cook the recipe over an open fire. We recommend placing the iron over the fire for two minutes before unlatching, checking for doneness and flipping the iron over to cook the other side.
- Use caution when handling both the metal latch and handles as they can become hot while cooking.
How to make this pie iron smore recipe:
Ingredients that you’ll need:
- 1 pkg graham crackers (150 g)
- Jersey milk chocolate bar (100 g)
- Marshmallows (100 g)
Directions:
1. Spray the pie iron with non stick spray or wipe the interior with oil. This step is optional but helps to prevent sticking.
2. Layer graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate in the iron, creating a sandwich.
3. Latch the pie iron closed. It’s okay if the graham crack cracks, it’ll stick together with the marshmallow.
4. Heat the iron over the fire for about 5 minutes, flipping the pie iron if needed.
